The Glyde Inn is a multi award winning beachside bar &restaurant in the fishing village of Annagassan, Co. Louth. It is an actual real life hidden treasure, a beautiful family run traditional Irish bar with modern family friendly seafood restaurant that overlooks Dundalk Bay.
During the Covid lockdown, the O'Neill family used the enforced down time to reflect and refresh their business. Our brief was to craft a fresh modern identity that could be incorporated across the many aspects of the business from paint colours to coffee cups to better reflect the fresh locally sourced seafood, the locally crafted beers, the own brand roasted coffee, the home baked breads and the stunning sea views on offer.
We first immersed ourselves in The Glyde Inn and visited the beautiful Co. Louth location to sample the hospitality in person. Whilst we were suitably impressed by the building, the bar and the food, one of the most memorable features of this visit was the proximity of the sea to the table upon which it's served, the same sea where the catch is landed by local fishermen, often caught that morning. (Pre covid...) a common occurrence would be to see diners stroll on the Glyde Inn beach collecting shells and stones while you waited on our order or taking your coffee to go. It was this insight that led us to our concept for the rebrand, G on the sea, and that also led to the tagline BEACHSIDE BAR & RESTAURANT.
At the centre of our badge emblem, we have a letter G that illustrates the table edge right up against the sea edge. We decided on a core emblem where the fish is almost hopping out of the sea and onto the plate, and a separate one for the coffee side of the business, where a passing mermaid puts her fins up and pops in for a relaxing coffee, just like the throngs of local sea swimmers at neighbouring Salterstown Pier.
Bammedia were delighted to assist The Glyde Inn in all aspects of the rebrand, including their exterior building refresh. We chose paint colours, designed branded umbrellas, advised on interior design updates, designed window decals at the Coffee Hatch, designed new staff uniforms, provided editable menus, social media graphics, stationery and more.
